7th Grade Mission Statement:

 7th Grade P.E. working hard to become physically fit.

 

6th Grade Mission Statement:

9th period students working to accomplish the presidential challenge goals.

 

 

Physical Education: 6th and 7th Grade

 

The president’s challenge is a physical fitness awards program to encourage youth to make a commitment to increase physical activity and to maintain a lifetime of fitness.

 

The students are tested over five components of fitness. 

 

Curl-ups:

Objective:  To measure abdominal strength/endurance by maximum number of 

     curl-ups performed in one minute.

 

Shuttle run:

Objective:  To perform the shuttle run as fast as possible.  This is to test for total body

     coordination and agility.

 

One mile walk/run:

Objective:  To measure cardiorespiratory endurance by fastest time to cover a

one-mile distance. 

 

Push-ups:

Objective:  To measure upper body strength /endurance by maximum number of

push-ups completed.

 

Sit and reach:

Objective:  To measure flexibility of lower back and hamstrings by farthest distance

reached.
