HAS WORLDWIDE INFLUENCE
As I was checking my Facebook private messages one evening I was pleasantly surprised to hear from a former student, Emma Burger. Emma is a Lucas graduate. She went on to college at Marietta College and graduated in May 2014. She is now teaching music at the American School of Madrid in Spain. Along with teaching music she is also a sponsor for an engineering club that meets once a week. This is the reason for the message. Emma remembered that her older brother, Nolan has been involved in a T.A.G. project involving a future city competition at Lucas. I happened to be the T.A.G. teacher at that time. She asked me about resources that I had used to help her challenge these extremely bright 4th and 5th grade students in her club. She also sent me a picture of the engineering group with their newly constructed toothpick bridges! This sparked my memory of the toothpick bridges that Lucas T.A.G. students had constructed many years ago. Her students looked happy and proud of their bridges as Lucas students were so many years ago. Emma also wrote that she loves teaching and living in Spain. I had shared this story with our superintendent, Mr. Dan Freund and was asked to share it with you. I hope you have enjoyed Emma’s update as much as I have enjoyed hearing from a past student.
graduates are making a difference all over the world. I am so fortunate to be an educator in Lucas Local Schools.
I am getting back to her with more resources!
