National Honor Society is now the Lucas Academic Honor Society
Due to an inexplicable increase in national dues by the National Honor Society, Lucas High School has severed its affiliation with the national organization and created its own honor society to recognize the outstanding efforts of its students. This year, students who achieve outstanding academic success and show leadership in the areas of service and character will be inducted into the Lucas Academic Honor Society (LAHS). Current NHS members have been transferred into the LAHS for the 2015-216 school year. Induction for the LAHS will occur in the fall, providing incoming seniors more opportunity to participate in chapter activities and all members to be active throughout the school year and summer months. Current LAHS members are already earning service hours at a variety of events throughout the community and school and are actively planning for the upcoming annual Veteran’s Day assembly.
For the upcoming school year, the Lucas Academic Honor Society is planning a presentation to recognize Lucas community members for their service in the military. The LAHS is seeking pictures, mementos and other information that will then be displayed at our annual Veterans Day Assembly at 9am on Wednesday, November 11th. This project will be ongoing and added to on a yearly basis.
